Glutathione
Glutathione is basically your body’s main antioxidant “clean-up crew.” It’s a small molecule (made from 3 amino acids) that your cells use to:
-
Neutralize oxidative stress (it helps mop up “free radicals” that can damage cells)
-
Support liver detox pathways (it’s used in phase II detox reactions so your body can process and clear certain compounds)
-
Recycle other antioxidants like vitamins C and E so they keep working
-
Support immune function (immune cells use glutathione to function and handle inflammation/oxidative load)
-
Skin tone/brightening (indirectly): glutathione is involved in melanin pathways, so some people chase it for “brightening,” but results vary a lot and the evidence is mixed—especially depending on oral vs IV/injection.
